Save Star-Crossed

I just got back from vacation and decided to catch up on my CW tv shows—The Vampire Diaries, the Originals, Reign, and last but not least, Star-Crossed.

I’m here today to talk to you about Star-Crossed. It wasn’t my favorite new show this season, but I did like it, and as with most things, the longer I watched it, the better it got. And throughout the season, despite knowing the show didn’t have the best ratings, I kept hoping it would be renewed. If only it got a second season, I’m sure this show would become GREAT.

As soon as I finished watching the season finale, I went online to see if it had been renewed or canceled. As I had suspected, it was canceled. I found a petition to bring it back, though, and instantly signed my name. I’m here today to ask you, whoever is reading this blog post, to do the same. Just give the show a second season. It’s a decent show and I think it deserves a chance at a second season, a chance to grow.

So, please. The link to the petition is below. We need 1,566 more signatures. Please help.

Spring cleaning—Goodreads TBR Pile

So I've been in a spring cleaning mood--ever since spring break (several weeks ago). I dumped my room and got rid of lots of old toys and clothes and other stuff that was just hanging out in my room that I didn't use anymore. It was extremely cathartic--like a weight off my shoulders. And I've been wanting to get rid of more and more stuff.

And I decided to dust off my TBR shelf on goodreads.

So… I mark TONS of books as want-to-read on goodreads. So much so that the My Books page has this on the side:

1121 book to read. 595 that I’ve read. (granted, that read shelf doesn’t include most of what I read in elementary, middle, and the first couple years of high school. But still.) My TBR shelf is OUT. OF. CONTROL.
I saw Miss Fictional’s World of YA Books (http://missfictional.blogspot.com) do a post about taming her TBR pile, and I took it to heart and went through my TBR pile with tree-cutting ax.

To figure out how to remove books my shelves on goodreads, this blog post was very helpful: http://www.soobsessedwith.com/2014/01/get-organized-on-goodreads.html (I neglected to hide my activity. Sorry friends and followers)

After doing that, I brought my TBR shelf down to 797. Much more manageable, and closer to the size of my read shelf.

Then I clicked Find Duplicates on the sidebar and went through all my duplicates, deleting them all so I only had one edition of every book on my goodreads. (Now, this actually knocked off some of my read books, too, but whatever)

So now my TBR shelf is down to 777 books. Still a lot, but it’s more manageable now. And it’s back in the triple digits.

I feel much better now.

TTT-Top Ten Books Covers I’ll Frame as Artwork

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

I just this post on two bogs, Bookables (http://bookablesbooks.blogspot.com/) and Drugs Called Books (http://drugscalledbooks.blogspot.com/), and decided, ‘Man, that’s a good topic I can do pretty quick!’ so here it is, the first TTT I’ve done in forever.

  1. Unspoken—I own the lame paperback cover, but I love this one SOOO much.
  2. Find Me—Fantastic book, lovely cover.
  3. Above—this one just looks so magical.

4. The Brokenhearted—this one is so interesting, and I think the robotic heart just looks so cool.
5. Drink Slay Love—this is so suave I feel it would make a great poster or something.
6. Unwind—I like this one for the same reason I like Find Me, there’s sort of a silhouette of a person, but not the real thing, and it’s so telling.

7. All Our Yesterdays—this cover is so cool, but I didn’t really get it until I read the book, but it’s so dark and moody, I love it.
8. All These Things I’ve Done—again, I own the lame paperback cover, but this one is so much cooler.
9. Babe in Boyland—this is just so CUTE!

Can't think of any more.
